Clinics
Sexual Health
Advice
on contraception, reproductive health and sexual problems is available from a
doctor of the gender of your choice. All advice is completely confidential, whatever
the age of the person seeking it.
If you are planning a baby, pre-conceptual advice is available from the doctors,
midwife and health visitor.
Advice
For Travellers
If you are making plans to travel abroad, please complete a travel questionnaire
(available from reception) and make an appointment with the practice nurse.
You should allow four weeks for any necessary immunisations (eight weeks if complete
courses of tetanus and/or polio are needed). There may be a charge for non-NHS
injections and anti-malarial tablets can only be given by private prescription.
Pack a small first aid kit containing:
• Adhesive dressings
• Insect repellent
• Antiseptic cream
• Water purification tablets
• Rehydration sachets
When abroad, check on
the quality of drinking water - if in doubt, drink only bottled water.
Beware of the sun! Minimise exposure, use a wide-brimmed hat and use a high factor
sunscreen, particularly in the first few days. Children and babies should be
closely watched so that they do not get burned.
On your return, if you fall ill or have a fever, don’t forget to tell your
doctor that you have travelled abroad.
Drop-in Clinic
This is
available for young people who require advice on contraception and sexual health
and is held on Mondays between 3.45-4.15pm. An appointment is not required.
