The practice
can be traced back to the 1900s and has been on the present site since the 1950s
when the surgery was part of the house of Dr Graham Shephard. A single storey
building was built to house the practice adjacent to this in 1967 and, in 1994,
the premises were extended to include the house built on the site of the original
surgery. That was called Watledge House and the new premises continue the name. This website has been designed to tell you about the practice and the services
that we offer. Please read it carefully. We trust that you will find it helpful
and informative.
Tewkesbury Health Care Project
Watledge Surgery, along with the other two surgeries in Tewkesbury, have joined forces to build a new health care facility housing all three practices.
Our aim is to provide all of our patients with the best care possible in one modern centre near the Wheatpieces, opening in 2012. To find out the full details, click here www.tewkesburysurgeries.org
Tewkesbury
Hospital
Tewkesbury Hospital is a community hospital.
There is a general ward and an elderly care ward mainly for rehabilitation, a nurse-led minor injuries unit, operating theatre, physiotherapy
and out-patient departments. The doctors attend to patients on the wards.
Blood tests and x-rays are also carried out at the hospital by appointment.
If You Have A Disability
The practice building was designed to help people with disabilities. There is
easy access for wheelchairs and none of the areas for patient use have steps.
The toilet is easily accessed. A hearing loop is available for the hard of hearing. Please ask at reception.
Parking
We have very
limited parking space at the surgery and would like to keep this available as
far as possible for elderly and disabled patients. Please help us to do this by
using nearby streets or car parks as much as possible. (Nearest public car parks
are behind Tewkesbury Hospital and behind Safeway - accessed via Station Road.)
